Being a beginner quilter, wow! did I learn a lot! The biggest lesson I learned was not to commit to a 96" x 96" bed quilt that you have to explain how to make to someone else. That way lies madness. It looked so easy on my computer screen which is where I do all my fabric and quilt designing. But despite the pain of jumping in over my head, I feel very honored to have it published as an online exclusive by QN. I'm happy to report that 1/2 a year later the lessons of doing a full size quilt top like that one have paid off. Just finished another quilt design for Fons & Porter's Easy Quilts and I almost felt like an old hand at it! But I did make it a bit smaller. See it below.

Jake's Escalator - scheduled for publication in Fons & Porter's Easy Quilts Spring 2010 issue.(On newstands mid-January) A truly UrbanAmish style quilt where the fabric is allowed to a lot of the "heavy" work. The blocks are big enough to use contemporary larger scale fabrics. The scale of the blocks also lets you assemble a relatively large quilt in a much shorter time without sacrificing interest. The bigger block areas allow for a more "whole cloth" approach to the quilting part of it. Keeps the longarm quilter in your life happy! Uses my Garden Party Fabric manufactured by Blank Quilting.
